The LAP-BAND System can be removed if need be. If so, the stomach generally returns to its original form. It may require less hospital time than other surgical techniques. Patients normally leave the hospital in less than 24 hours after the surgery. Recovery may be quicker. After the procedure, patients usually return to work and their normal activities in a few days. |

Minimally Invasive:

The lap band is a minimally invasive surgical procedure. It does not involve stapling, cutting and rerouting of the intestines. This laparoscopic procedure only involves the placing of a plastic prosthetic around the upper part of the stomach. Once the band is in place, adjustments are done on an outpatient basis without surgical intervention.
No irreversible damage
If for any reason the Gastric Band must be removed, it can be removed without any problems. Once the band is removed the stomach will more than likely return to its original shape. The stomach will perform normally without restrictions.
